This item is part of the “Punic Wars: Hannibal at the Gates” collection.

A Greek Hoplite Command Group typically represents the leadership, communication, and symbolic core of a classical Greek phalanx formation. This specialized group consists of unique figures that kept the tightly packed block of soldiers organized, moving in rhythm, and motivated on the battlefield.

The Officer (Strategos / Lochagos): The tactical commander who leads from the front rank. In wargaming miniatures, officers are usually distinguished by a transverse (side-to-side) helmet crest, highly ornate muscle cuirass armor, and an unsheathed xiphos sword instead of a spear.

The Musician (Salpinxt / Aulos Player): Absolute key to keeping the phalanx cohesive. Trumpeters (salpingktes) blew a high-pitched bronze horn called a salpinx to signal advances or retreats. Spartan units famously used flute players (auletes) to keep a steady, rhythmic march pace so the formation wouldn't break apart over uneven terrain.

The Standard Bearer (Semeiophoros): Though less common in early classical Greece than in later Macedonian or Roman periods, many tabletop games include a banner or standard bearer. They carried a city-state's specific religious symbol or icon to act as a visual rally point for the men

Ideal for games like HAIL CAESAR, Clash of Spears, SAGA, and other wargames.
