Illyrian Hoplites were heavy infantry from the Adriatic coast who combined traditional Greek equipment with local fighting styles. While "hoplite" traditionally refers to the citizen-soldiers of Greek city-states, Illyrian tribes like the Ardiaei adopted this style of warfare, often serving as highly maneuverable heavy infantry or mercenary units in Hellenistic armies.
