Roman Republic Archers

In the Roman Republic, archer units were primarily composed of auxiliaries rather than Roman citizens.

Roman Archers were equipped with bows and javelins, and they were often deployed on the flanks of the Roman battle line to provide support to the infantry and cavalry, and to disrupt enemy formations. They utilized composite bows and a shooting technique known as the “Mediterranean” shooting style.
