Epicydes (also spelled Epicides) was a Carthaginian-backed politician and general who served as one of the final tyrants of Syracuse from 214 to 212 BC. Alongside his brother Hippocrates, he maneuvered the independent Greek city-state into an alliance with Carthage during the crucial height of the Second Punic War. This directly triggered the historical Roman assault and subsequent Siege of Syracuse.
